Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Star-rated hotels in the Indonesian resort island of Bali witnessed an average 0.70 percent decline in their occupancy rate to 61.40 percent in July 2014 from 62.10 percent a month earlier.
"The occupancy rate is quite good, as normally an occupancy rate of above 50 percent is sufficient to cover operating costs, including employees' salaries," head of the Central Statistics Agency office in Bali Province Panusunan Siregar stated here on Saturday.
Bali received 361,066 international visitors in July 2014, up 21.21 percent from the same month last year or 9.28 percent from the previous month, he said.
The international visitors mostly stayed at star-rated hotels, which are located in six of nine districts/municipality in the province, he noted.
Panusunan said the highest room occupancy rate in July 2014 was recorded in Tabanan District at 83.20 percent, down 3.91 percent from 87.11 percent in the previous month.
This was followed by Gianyar District at 62.03 percent, up 6.47 percent from 55.56 percent the previous month.
Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate in Denpasar municipality in July 2014 was recorded at 61.08 percent, Badung 60.98 percent, Buleleng 60.56 percent.
The three districts of Jembrana, Bangli, and Klungkung have no star-rated hotels.
In total, Bali has 2,260 star-rated and non-star hotels with 56,971 rooms, according to the Indonesian Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Bali chapter. (WDY)
