Depok (Antara Bali) - Depok police have launched a raid to clean the bus terminal in the Jakarta satellite city from thuggery.
Operating division chief of Depok police Comr. Suratno said in the raid police arrested 25 young men charged with thuggery.
"At least 25 young men were arrested," Suratno said, adding they are suspected of being members of a gang of thugs often intimidating and extorting money from people.
Police move on report from the people complaining about the brutality of the gang members, he said here on Wednesday.
People did not dare to walk especially at night in the Margonda street near the terminal, he said. He said police would continue the operation to guarantee security of people including those using public transport vehicles in that area.
The 25 suspected thugs would be interrogated and their names and identities would be put in police record, he said. (*/DWA)
