Banyuwangi (Antara Bali) - A total of 25 foreign surfers from 20 countries will join the Banyuwangi International Surf Competition 2013, May 24-26.
Some of the participating countries are Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Brazil, Portugal, France, Austria, the Netherlands and South Africa.
"Our preparations have reached about 95 percent. We will continue to assure that all facilities would be completed to an ideal level such as accommodations, publications and venues," Abdullah Azwar Anas, the Banyuwangi regent said here on Friday.
The surf competition in Pulau Merah beach, Banyuwangi, will also be participated in by about 100 local surfers. The number of participants could still increase until the end of the registration period.
The local organizer is targeting 192 surfers for the international surf competition. The Banyuwangi district government provides 20 residential houses around the venue for a homestay for the surfers. (*/M038)
