Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The 44.412 Australians who visited Bali in January 2010, was an increase by 58.86 percent from 27,956 who visited the island paradise in December 2009.
"Most of them arrived in Bali by plane at Ngurah Rai international airport," head of the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu said here Tuesday.
She said Australia is on top of the list of 10 countries with the biggest number of tourists to Bali following Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, France and the United States.
Australia contributed 24.77 pct of the total number of 179,273 foreign tourists to Bali in January 2010, a 2.71 pct increase compared to those in December 2009.
Ida Komang Wisnu added that Bali last year was visited by 446,570 Australian tourists, a 42.62 pct increase compared to the only 313,111.(*)
