Padang (Antara Bali) - The 2013 fund for education of character building conducted in certain schools in West Sumatra reached Rp5.19 billion or rises sharply compared with Rp1.11 billion in 2012.
West Sumatra governor, Irwan Prayitno said here on Saturday, adding that the increase of such education fund is made due to the number of activities in 2013 rose to 7 compared with four activities in 2012.
The activities for the education program cover the socialization and fostering the character education, development as well as the fostering effort at junior and senior high schools, training and preparation of teaching materials for equality package A, B and C.
Another activity is the character building workshop at junior high schools, he said, noting that West Sumatra provincial government has been starting the education in character building since 2011.
According to him, concept for education in character building in West Sumatra constitutes the application of religious and nation values which is developed through the educational development of school culture. (*/DWA)
