Jakarta (Antara Bali) - National banks which have enjoyed increasing profit should raise their contribution to the development of the real sector, economic observer Enny Sri Hartanti of the Institute for Development of Economics and Fiance (Indef) said.
"The banking sector is now getting improved. Banks are improving not only in the profit aspect but also in the non-performing loan (NPL), profit and others," Enny said here on Monday.
She said banks however should continue to contribute to the real sector and increase their intermediary roles.
Enny explained that banks' financing was still very relatively limited both in terms of quality and quantity.
"If we look at the portion of banks' financing contribution we can see that the largest portion is given to the consumption sectors," Enny said. (IGT)
