Makassar (Antara Bali) - Hadji Kalla Group will focus more on infrastructure and energy business to support development especially in Indonesian eastern regions, its founder and adviser, HM Kalla said.

"God willing we will develop 1,000 megawatt electricity plants across Sulawesi," he said at a event held in commemoration of the group's 60th anniversary here on Saturday evening.

The former vice president meanwhile claimed that his company had build the most efficient power plants in South Sulawesi using ecologically friendly hydro-power energy (PLTA).

In the near future he said he would build 300 megawatt PLTAs across Sulawesi so that the region especially South Sulawesi would not be short of electricity.

"So, South Sulawesi is ready to welcome investment and will never be short of electricity supply," he added.

He said he had chosen South Sulawesi for investment in electricity projects because issuance of permits in the region is fast.

He said however that he would also develop businesses in other regions as well such as Kalimantan and Sumatra.

Besides electricity the group is now also exploring the possibility of developing a monorail network in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi.

If it is successful it will make Makassar the first city in Indonesia to have a monorail public transportation service, he said. "Transportation development in Makassar must be monitored well," he said.(*/M038)
