Ambon (Antara Bali) - Two yachts participating in the Darwin-Ambon Yacht Race (DAYR) - Casper and St Jacob - reached the finishing line at Negeri Amahusu coast here on Thursday morning.

Casper arrived at the finishing line at 8:10 am local time, while St Jacob crossed it at 9:21 am local time," said Peter Suter, the DAYR organizing committee chairman from Darwin, Australia, here on Thursday.

"Most likely, another yacht from Australia, called Pandora, will arrive this afternoon," he added.

So far, six yachts have arrived in Ambon. The four others were Australian Maid (captained by Lisa Yane Chamberlian), Gameset (Philip John Mulkearns), Even Karma (Mogam Dulf William), and Cattilac (Paul Zlot kowski).

The four yachts arrived on Tuesday. Australian Maid was the first to reach the finishing line, at 7:37 am local time, followed by Gameset at 5:.26 pm, Even Karma at 7:37 pm, and Cattilac at 8:06 pm.

"This year, the race has two categories: multihull division, in which four yachts have taken part, and the rally division, in which five yachts are participating," Peter noted.

A welcoming ceremony will be organized on Saturday (September 1) at Merdeka square, and the event will be attended by race participants, officials and local people.(*/T007)
