Cirebon (Antara Bali) - The government will allocate Rp55 billion in funds to restore four palaces in Cirebon city, West Java, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono said.
The restoration of Kasepuhan, Kanoman, Kacirebonan and Kaprabonan palaces is a mandate of Law No. 11 of 2010 on culture preserve, he said at the conclusion of his Ramadhan safari in Cirebon on Sunday.
The palaces which existed here in the 15th century are national assets, he said.
It will be easier to restore the palaces because they are still in good condition, he said.
The restoration of the four palaces will be carried out in stages and completed in two years' time, he said.
Once the restoration is completed, more and more tourists will hopefully visit the palaces, he said.
The minister said Cirebon has the potential to become a tourist destination because it has four palaces and adequate infrastructures.(*/T007)
