Mamuju (Antara Bali) - The Swisscontact Indonesia Foundation (SIF) will support the national programme for the revitalisation of the cocoa industry, known as "Gernas Pro Kakao," in West Sulawesi, said Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh.
"Swisscontact will help empower cocoa farmers in West Sulawesi in their efforts to support the Gernas Pro Kakao programme," remarked the governor, stressing the need to optimise the empowerment of cocoa farmers to ensure the programme's success.
Founded in 1959 by members of the Swiss private business and university sectors, Swisscontact is a non-profit organisation with over 30 years of experience in Indonesia.
Its vision is to become the leading partner in improving the Indonesian people's lives through innovative solutions.
According to the governor, Swisscontact wishes to empower the cocoa farmers in West Sulawesi to support the Gernas Pro Kakao programme initiated by the West Sulawesi government and implemented in 25 provinces across the country.
"The aim of the Gernas Pro Kakao programme is also to improve the nation's cocoa production to make Indonesia the world's largest cocoa producer," Anwar noted.(DWA/IGT)
