Wonogiri (Antara Bali) - Eight people were killed when a Kijang pickup van hit a bridge in Jamprit hamlet, Wonogiri district, Central Java province on Friday.
The fatalities were identified as Yanuar Ardi (2), Suyat (65), Samino (65), Katijem (57), Sarti (60), Suwarmi (54), Bejo (45), Parjo (70), said the local traffic police chief, Adjunct Commissioner, Joeharno said.
The accident happened when the car that ran in a high speed struck a bridge, the police said, adding that car was driven by Kasimin (47).
In addition another 22 passengers sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, a Volvo sedan rammed into two motorbikes along a road in Pucangron villoge, Kalitengah sub-district, Lamongan district, East Java province on last saturday, police said.
The car then plunged into a river near the road, according to the police.(*/M038/T007)
