Jakarta (Antara Bali)  - Jakarta police have uncovered an operation to distribute  Rp128 billion worth of narcotic drugs controlled by three Malaysian nationals, known by their initials as AZL, AD and APN.

"The Malaysian citizens were the financiers and have smuggled in 55 kilograms of methamphetamine, 50,000 ecstasy pills, 30,000 'Happy5' pills," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Thursday.

He said the police had also arrested other suspects in connection with it including five inmates of the Salemba and Tangerang state penitentiaries.

He said the police arrested some of the suspects in front of Plaza Hotel in the Harco Mas shopping complex in Mangga Dua, Central Jakarta , and in Ancol on January 26.

The director of narcotics of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command, Senior Commissioner Nugroho Aji, said that the inmates of the Salemba and Tangerang penitentiaries had also acted as controllers and financiers.

He said the suspects smuggled narcotics drugs from the Netherlands, Iran and China through Johor in Malaysia to Indonesia.(IGT)
