Jakarta (Antara Bali) - A 29-year-old woman had taken drugs before ploughing her car into a group pedestrians near the Tugu Tani monument in Central Jakarta on Sunday (Jan 22) at about 11.30 am, police said.
"The night before the accident, the driver and three of her friends took drugs and alcohol at a cafe in South Jakarta. Then they left the hotel in Central Jakarta to attend a birthday party," spokesman of the Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Monday.
According to the driver and her friends, Rikwanto said, she lost control over the car seconds before the accident and hit a group of people who were crossing the street.
Nine people died in the accident. It was said the car was speeding at 100 km per hour when the accident happened.
Police have detained AS and her three friends.(T007)
