Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Antara Bali) - The Malaysian government deported this week 173 problematic Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in the third stage of its TKI deportation program, an official said.

"The Indonesian migrant workers were shipped to Tanjungpinang City, Riau Island province. They arrived at Tanjungpinang's Sri Bintan Pura port on Thursday," chairman of the Tanjungpinang Task Force for Problematic Workers, Juramadi Esram, said here on Friday.

He said that the Indonesian workers were temporarily now housed by the task force before they were returned to their respective regions.

Juramadi said that the Indonesian deportees consisted of 115 male and 58 female workers, four infants and two children under three years old.

In the first stage of its deportation program this year, Malaysia deported 83 problematic  Indonesian workers on Friday, January 6, 2001, and in the second phase 120 others.(T007)
