Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's imports in September 2011 fell 21.05 percent to US$12.3 million from US$15.7 million the month before.

"Compared to the same month in 2010, Bali's imports dropped 27.76 percent," Head of the Bali Provincial Statistics Office Gede Suarsa said here on Friday.

Bali's imports in September 2011 were dominated by machines and mechanical and electrical appliances needed to support the growth of the local people's economy, he said.

Data from the statistics office show the import of machines and mechanical appliances in September 2011 reached US$5.6 million, accounting for 45.3 percent of the province's overall non-oil/non-gas imports in that month.

Meanwhile, the import of machines and electrical appliances in September 2011 was valued at US$1.7 million or 14.4 percent of the overall non-oil/non-gas imports.(**)
