Gianyar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The Search and Rescue (SAR) team evacuated five landslide victims, including one survivor, after more than 7.5 hours of searching in Batubulan village, Gianyar District, Bali Province, on Saturday.
"We must be careful during the evacuation process as the land contour is still unstable," head of the Denpasar SAR operation section, Ida Bagus Surya Wirawan, stated in Batubulan.
The body of Nyoman Adi Anggara Palguna (2) was the last to be evacuated from the ruins of the house at around 01:30 p.m. local time, after his mother Lintang Ayu Widimerti (32) and others Made Adin Aditya Palguna (4) and Putu Deta (6) were evacuated. Their father, Made Oktara Dwi Palguna (30), survived despite a number of wounds on his face and several parts of his body.
Palguna, an employee of the state-owned bank BRI at the Gajah Mada area in Denpasar, was evacuated from the rubble on the river bank and immediately taken to Denpasar`s Dharmaya hospital before being rushed to Sanglah hospital in Denpasar.
The victims were evacuated from the rubble of the buildings, at a depth of about 10 meters.
During the search process, the rescuers used equipment, such as iron cutters, concrete, and a water spray, to facilitate the evacuation of victims from the rubble, as well as used two tracking dogs.
The river that flowed beside the victims? house had strong current following heavy rains in parts of Bali on Friday (Dec 7) night until early on Saturday.
