Kuching, Sarawak (Antara Bali) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a closed door meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Razak on Wednesday to discuss various bilateral issues.
Jokowi was in Kuching for the 12th annual consultation to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The president is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi, and Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana.
The annual consultation will discuss various priority bilateral issues and encourage the materialization of some agreed commitments.
Four issues to be discussed during the meeting are enhancement of economic cooperation; protection for Indonesians; and issues on labor, borders, and security, spokesman of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudi stated.
Both governments will sign some memoranda of understanding and hold a joint press conference.
After the annual consultation, President Jokowi will meet members of the Indonesian community in Sarawak.
The president is scheduled to leave Kuching in the evening and arrive at the Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara for a working visit on Thursday. (WDY)
