Kuta (Antara Bali) - The management of Bali United soccer club has officially recruited Hans Peter Scaller to replace Indra Sjafri as coach to train the Indonesian national team of U-19 (under 19 years old).

CEO of the Bali United Yabes Tanuri told the press here on Monday that his side has chosen Peter as the new coach, because he shared the vision and mission similar to the club.

"Peter`s selection is not a sudden step. We had discussed it with the management before it was announced today," Tanuri stated.

On the occasion, Tanuri expressed his gratitude and congratulations to Sjafri who has been entrusted by the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) to train the U-19 national team for an international championship.

Peter is the assistant to former coach Alfred Riedl, who once trained the Indonesian national soccer team or Timnas Garuda. Both hail from Austria.

In the meantime, Peter pointed out that he was glad to have been entrusted with the duty to train the Bali United squad.

The 54 year-old further stated that he would immediately carry out the training session to help improve the performance of this squad, including in the current tournament of President Cup-II 2017.

A total of 20 soccer teams are participating in the President Cup II 2017, including Bali United team.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo kicked off the President Cup II 2017 national soccer championship at the Maguwohardjo International Stadium in Sleman, Yogyakarta, in Central Java on Saturday (Feb 4).(WDY)
