U.S. Tourists Visiting Bali Up 38.34 Percent In Number

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The number of U.S. tourists visiting Bali  in the first three months of 2016 rose 38.34 percent year-on-year to 38,773.

"The increase was encouraging  especially as  U.S. tourists  are big spenders," tourism observer Made Sudana said here on Thursday.

The U.S. tourists  are the 7th largest in number from the 9th last year, making up 3.56 percent of the total number of 1.09 million foreign holiday makers visiting Bali in the January-March period.

Hotel operators and tourism related business players would certainly benefit  from the increase in the number of the big spenders from the United States, he said.

Based on a survey  by  Bank Indonesia in May 2015, a U.S. tourist spent US$188.10 per day in Bali as against  US$170.9  by a Malaysian  and US$90.82 by a Singaporean.

Australians spent the longest 9.28 days per visit, followed by U.S. visitors staying for 9.06 days.

Spending by foreign tourists averaged US$125.93 per day each with length of stay averaging 7.66 days, down from US$190.07 in spending per day with length of stay of 8.19 days  in 2014.  (WDY)
