Bali Sets Target To Earn Rp22 Billion From Foreign Workers` Permits

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali provincial government has set a target to earn Rp 22 billion worth of levy in 2016 as a result of a policy to grant permits to foreign workers under the employment policy (IMTA), an official has stated.

"We dare not speculate (about the target) this year due to some issues such as the restriction on the working period of foreign workers," head of Bali provincial office of Manpower and Transmigration affairs I Gusti Agung Sudarsana stated here on Monday.

According to him, this year`s target was below last year`s Rp25 million.

He further said the IMTA levy imposed on each foreign worker in Bali amounted to US$100 per month.

The working permit of foreign workers is issued by the Manpower and Transmigration ministry`s central office. The work permit is for six-months only.

The number of foreign workers who paid levies until the end of 2015 in Bali reached 1,853 people, Sudarsana added. (WDY)
