Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli has sharply criticized President Director of  Pelindo II RJ Lino at a meeting with the House of Representative's Special Committee (Pansus) probing alleged corruption in the state-owned port operator.

Rizal's criticized the system of management  and financial performance of the company under Lino.

He said Lino has bragged about profit recorded by Pelindo II, when  the company is  not even included  in the list of 20 state companies recording the largest profit.

"He (Lino) claimed to chalk up the largest profit, which is not true. Pelindo II is not among 20 state companies reporting  high profit," Rizal told members of the Special Committee.

He said  Pelindo II is behind  PT KAI (state railway company), which posted Rp591 billion in net profit and  pawnshop Pegadaian with profit of Rp1.6 trillion  and Pelindo III, which posted Rp640 billion in net profit.

"How come Pelindo II bragging (good performance)," he said.

He said  Pelindo II, which has a much larger market share should not be lagging behind Pelindo III.

Rizal said the system of management in Pelindo II did not follow order  describing the system as messy.

Citing an example, he said container ships are not served  on the principel of "first come, first served" .

"Lino said Pelindo II has its  own system  to suit clients. It is down right foolish, very bad , very much inconceivable. It would force many ships waiting for as long as seven days," he said.

The system contributed to long dwelling time at Tanjung Priok, he said.

Rizal also criticized  extension of contract with Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), saying the contract extension was against many regulations including the Law on shipping.

He said the extension was given before the termination of the old contract.

For that , he said, he would ask the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to carry out investigative audit of those problems.

"We will soon send a letter to BPK asking the agency to audit the contract extension, financial condition  and management system of  Pelindo II," he added.

Rizal said his presence to give information to the Pansus was part of his duties  as regulated in Presidential Regulation No 10 of  2015.

Based on the presidential regulation, part of the duties of a coordinating minister for maritime affairs is to coordinate  and synchronize ministries/agencies under its coordination  and at the same time do the supervision, he said.

"There has been questions  as to why the Coordinating Minister often meddles in other affairs. That is  because it is part of his duties," he said.

The Special Committee already summoned a number of other related officials to give information about alleged irregularities  in Pelindo II.

Earlier police's criminal investigating agency (Bareskrim)  raided the head office of Pelindo II and seized a number of documents. (WDY)
