Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian government needs to raise the issue of Rohingya refugees at the ASEAN forum, Deputy House Speaker Fahri Hamzah said.
"Indonesia must protest Burma and Bangladesh at the ASEAN forum for discriminating against their citizens in the current modern era," he said in a press statement released on Sunday.
Indonesia needs to remind governments of other ASEAN member states of their obligations to give priority to humanitarian vision when it comes to the Rohingya refugees, he said.
He said Indonesia should stay at the forefront of a campaign against countries impeding humanitarian missions.
On Sunday, Fahri who is a politician of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) visited Rohingya refugees sheltered at Blang Adoe, North Aceh. (WDY)
