Family and Survivor Commemorates Bali Bombing

Kuta (Antara Bali) - Family victim and foreign tourists commemorate the first Bali Bombing tragedy by praying and sowing flowers in the Humanitarian Tragedy Monument at Legian, Kuta, Badung Regency on Sunday.

Around 08.30 am local time, representatives of the family victims accompanied by the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika and Australian Consulate General Majell Hind paid respect to remembering the 202 victims written on the wall of the monument.

The bustle of tourist activities in Legian turned out into a moment of silent during a minute of commemoration.

"This commemoration is not to remember but to alarm people, government and the world that today occurs a terrible humanitarian tragedy which we still feel the impact," Chairwoman of the Wife and Children of Bali Bombing Foundation (Isana Dewata) Ni Luh Erniati said.

Governor Made Mangku Pastika invites all people including the family and the survivor to forgive and eleminate the anger.

"This commemoration does not raise the anger but to forgive, however, we understand it is hardly to forget," he said.

Pastika who was the former of the First Bali Bombing Investigation Chief further invites all stake holders and the people to spread peace and keep the security in Bali.

"No matter what your religion, your skin color, or your work, let us keep the peace and tolerant," he stated.

An Australian citizen, Jan Laczynski come to Bali to mourn over his best Balinese friend, I Wayan Tamba who died on that tragedy.

"I always come every year to Bali to pay respect and commemorate my best friend," he said.

He come to the monument bringing flowers and Australian flags and pray in front of the empty land which was the Sari Club and always remember his friend altough it has been 12 years. (DWA)
