Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika called on the local chapter of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to assist in thwarting the entry of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) into the paradise island.
"Many Indonesian people come to find jobs in Bali because the area is safe for them. Therefore, we hope that MUI can help prevent the ISIS radical movement from entering the island province," the governor noted.
Pastika stated that he gave serious attention to the security situation in Bali due to the large population of Muslims on the island.
In his response to Pastika`s request, local MUI Chairman HM Taufiq As`adi emphasized that he will implement several measures to prevent the ISIS from entering Bali.
"To do this, we will gather all Muslim clerics and preachers here and encourage them not to follow any of the ISIS activities," Taufiq remarked. (WDY)
