Bus Station Packed with Holiday Travelers

Bandarlampung (Antara Bali) - The Rajabasa bus station in Bandarlampung, Lampung province, was packed by the 2013 Idul Fitri home-bound travelers on Saturday morning, an official said.

"The prospective travelers began trickling into the bus station early on Saturday morning and the number continued to increase along the passing of time," Rajabasa bus station spokesman Antoni Makky said on Saturday.

He said that since Friday evening the largest bus station at the southern part of Sumatra island was packed with prospective passengers, and their number kept increasing every hour until late at night.

Following the increasing number of prospective passengers at the bus station, the waiting hours of Bakauheni ferry port bound buses was shorter than that during regular days.

As the buses from Bakauheni port entered Rajabasa bus station, the passengers swarmed into them and in less than ten minutes they left again for their original places.

"The collective long holiday starts this Saturday and therefore the number of passengers will increase significantly," Antoni said.

He said official data from the bus station indicated that until Saturday morning the number of prospective passengers rouse to around 10,000.

"Compared to that in 2012, the number of passengers at Rajabasa bust station this year increases by more than 100 percent," Antoni said, adding that around 10,000 holiday travelers arrived and left the same bus station. (*/DWA)
