RI-Poland Hold Inter-Faith Dialogue

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian government in cooperation with the Polish government organized an inter-faith dialogue here on Monday, the results of which are expected to help contribute to global stability and peace.

"Indonesia always has commitment to developing inter-faith dialogue at all levels, including bilateral, regional and global," said the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Bahrul Hidayat in his speech at the event's opening.

The event was opened by the Director of Information and Public Diplomacy of the Foreign Affairs Ministry AM Fachir attended by Polish Ambassador to Indonesia G.Wisnieski, as well as speakers representing Indonesia and Poland.

Bahrul said that Indonesia is the fourth largest populated country in the world with its population reaching 237 million with 741 languages and 300 tribes, each of which having their own history and culture.

"Religion is also an important part of Indonesia's cultural diversity. Indonesia understands the importance of intercultural and inter-faith dialogues with regard to building a strong, democratic, and inclusive country," said Bahrul. (*/M038)
