RI Strengthens South to South Cooperation

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia, through its Foreign Affairs Ministry, is making efforts to strengthen South-South Cooperation in light of concerns about the lack of coordination among ministries and other public institutions in the implementation of the governments plans and programs.

Therefore, the ministry held a seminar here on January 29 to find ways to improve coordination among the ministries and government agencies in the implementation of integrated and synergized technical cooperation programs.

"As a member, Indonesia has always tried to play an important role in the global community by contributing in line with the mandate of the Preamble of the Constitution of 1945, the Ministry's Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy, Ambassador A. M. Fachir, said when opening the National Seminar on Strengthening South-South Cooperation through Integrated Technical Cooperation Programs at Aryaduta.

As an emerging economy, Indonesia has made donations and contributions to the global community, particularly to developing countries, under the framework of South-South Cooperation, he said, according to the ministry's official website, on Wednesday.

Fachir noted that Indonesia took the partnership and experience-sharing approach in its efforts to play a significant role in the global community.

"But most importantly, all South-South programs must be always be directed to national interests, based on economic, political, and image considerations," he pointed out.(*/DWA)
