Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a cabinet meeting in his office on Tuesday to prepare for the 2014 general elections.
During the meeting, the president wanted to know the status of the electronic identification card (e-KTP) program and the Special Allocation Fund (DAK II).
"The home affairs minister will explain the progress of the e-KTP program, DAK II and the 2014 presidential election law," said the president.
Also present at the meeting were Vice President Boediono, cabinet ministers and the members of the Presidential Advisory Council.
Although the elections will be organised by the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), President Yudhoyono said that the government is responsible to ensure that it runs smoothly, in a democratic manner.
Furthermore, the president said that the government should ensure that the 2014 general elections are in accordance with the norms of democracy. (*/T007)
