Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian currency gained against the US dollar this morning after interference by Bank Indonesia, the country's central bank.
The fall of rupiah in yesterday's closing prompting the interference by Bank Indonesia.
In interbank transaction this morning, rupiah traded at 9,624 to the dollar gaining from 9,655 earlier.
"The rupiah strengthening has been expected with Bank Indonesia's interference to keep the currency from shrinking deeper," Milenium Danatama Sekuritas' analyst Abidin said.
Risky currencies including rupiah has taken the downtrend lately, Abidin said here on Friday.
Samuel Sekuritas' analyst Lana Soelistianingsih said improved global sentiments would help shore up domestic market.(IGT)
