Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The attorney general office said it will suspend two prosecutors now in custody on extortion charge.
The prosecutors identified only as AFP and A were earlier arrested for trying to extort Rp2.5 billion from a company PT BIM in East Kalimantan.
"After they are in detention for one month, I would ask the Attorney General to suspend them," Junior attorney general in charge of supervision Marwan Effendy said on the side lines of a seminar here.
Marwan said the two prosecutors could permanently be dismissed if the court found a strong legal basis against them.
He said information about the alleged extortion plan by the two suspects came from the management of PT. BIM who happens to know someone in the attorney general office.
The attorney general office received a report that a fake prosecutor identified as DP tried to extort the company. The attorney general office moved and nabbed DP and his arrest led to the arrest of the two prosecutors and a prosecution office administration officer who together planned the extortion, Marwan said.(IGT/T007)
