Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Inland Waterway Transportation service PT ASDP said it expects the passenger traffic resulting from returning Idul Fitri holiday travelers to start on Thursday.
"The passenger traffic resulting from the return of holiday travelers at a number of ferry ports is expected to start on Thursday and peak on Sunday, as travelers will be returning to work on Monday," PT ASDP corporate secretary Christine Hutabarat said on Thursday.
She noted that extra effort has been made for the comfort of passengers arriving at the Bakauheni ferry port, which includes the deployment of around 78 volunteers from a youth organization at the port for helping regulate the passenger traffic.
The volunteers, mostly female teenagers, will also serve Lebaran holiday travelers returning from their home towns, at ticket counters and electronic ticket gateways.
They have been tasked with directing pedestrians to ticket counters and opening the electronic ticket gates for them, Hutabarat said.(IGT)
