Telkom Invests Rp4 Trillion Build Optic Fiber

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - State-owned telecommunications firm PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) allocated some Rp4 trillion for the development of optical fiber for better product services and diversification for the general public.

"In 2012 the company is modernizing access network with a set target of 2.4 million service connections in 66 Automated Telephone Centers (STO)," President Director of Telkom Rinaldi Firmansyah said at Semanggi 2 STO phasing out ceremony in Jakarta on Monday.

On the occasion, Rinaldi in the presence of the board of directors, Chief Commissioner Jusman Safei Djamal has been given the honor of phasing out the copper cable telecommunication access which has been meeting the needs of the customers for copper cable telecommunication in the Sudirman-Thamrin-Kuningan Golden Triangle.

Rinaldi said  the copper cable network has been changed with optical fiber since 2011 in which some 360,000 access network  service connections in 8 STOs in two bid cities, namely Jakarta and Surabaya had been realized.

He said that for Jakarta, modernization has been carried out at the STOs in  Cengkareng, Gandaria, Kebayoran Baru, Semanggi1, Slipi, Rawamangun and Kelapa Gading, while Surabaya covers the  Injoko and Manyar STOs.(IGT)
