Kuta (Antara Bali) - Fewer tourist visits have been reported at Kuta beach, Bali, one day after the Hindu holiday of Nyepi.

Only a small number of tourists were enjoying the world famous beach in Bali, based upon ANTARA's observations.

Most of the tourists were seen walking around Kuta's sandy beach since a red flag had been raised, forbidding any swimming.

"Seeing the high waves, I am very eager to surf on this beach," Dave Macharty, a British tourist, said here Saturday.

Macharty said that high waves and swift currents are enjoyed by surfers, who come to this beach expecting to take advantage of the surfing.

Earlier, a Water Tourism Rescue Agency supervisor in Badung district, Nyoman Puja, said her staff has repeatedly reminded visitors to pay attention to red flags or signs that ban entering the water.(IGT/T007)
