Ternate (Antara Bali) - Participants and visitors to an international maritime event will have a chance to experience the World War II.
The proposed international maritime event, Sail Morotai, scheduled to be held in Morotai Island, North Maluku, in September 2012, will feature a reconstruction of World War II, involving the Allies and Japanese forces in 1945.
"Through the WWII reconstruction, we would like visitors and participants of Sail Morotai to experience the 1945 War in Morotai," Chairman of the Sail Morotai Organizing Committee Muhadjir Albar said on Monday.
The WWII reconstruction activities will include skydiving, imitating Allies and Japanese parachute troops landing at Pittu Trip airstrip constructed by the Allies at Daruba village, Morotai Island District.
The organizing committee has contacted the United States and other Allies members, as well as Japan to participate in the parachuting attraction, and they have responded positively, Albar said.(IGT/T007)
