RI, Estonia Explore Security Cooperation

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia and Estonia are exploring maritime, Internet, and border cooperation, it was revealed in a bilateral meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa and his visiting Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet here on Tuesday.

"Relations between Indonesia and Estonia have a big potential and therefore, besides economic cooperation we are also exploring security cooperation especially in internet security," Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said.

According to Urmas, his country had a special attention in the field of internet security in addition to maritime and border cooperation.

Urmas's visit to Indonesia was the first by Estonian foreign minister since the two countries established diplomatic relation in 1993.

In the visit, the Estonian foreign minister was accompanied by a number of businessmen who were scheduled to make a series of meeting with Indonesian coordinating minister of economy, agriculture minister, defense minister, trade minister, health minister, communication and information minister, and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman.

Meanwhile, Marty Natalegawa said Indonesia and Estonia had also agreed to boost cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, and information technology.(IGT)
