Jombang, E Java (Antara Bali) - Woman's Affairs and Child Protection Minister Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar has called on the law enforcers to take the firmest possible action against rapists for a deterrent effect.
"I hope for the firmest possible law enforcement against perpetrators of rape in order to create a deterrent effect," Linda said in Jombang, East Java, on Thursday.
Related to cases of rape that occurred in the public transport, Linda was of the opinion that minimum service standards for public transport should to be implemented.
"Based on an information I get, one of the rapists is an incapable public transport driver without official driving license, and therefore I say there should be a minimum service standard," said the women empowerment minister.
The minister expressed hope that there should be the best possible solution to the case by among others prohibiting public transports from using dark glass in addition for the authority to provide security on public transport.*
