Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in the Indonesian island resort of Bali began operating two new aprons to accommodate flight traffic ahead of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) meetings, October 2018.

"After undergoing verification from the Ministry of Transportation and being evaluated at the final stage, the aprons were said suitable for use," Ngurah Rai Airport Co-General Manager Sigit Herdiyanto remarked here on Thursday.

According to him, the final verification and evaluation included a process in the western apron and eastern apron with strength measurements.

The verification officers came from a number of teams from several agencies namely the Inspector of Aviation Navigation, the Sub-directorate of Airport Standardization, the Sub directorate of Airport Equipment and Utilities and representatives from the Directorate of Aviation Security.

Lion Air aircraft with flight number JT-2622 Pudong Shanghai-Denpasar route became the first airline to use the western apron of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on Wednesday. (WDY)
