Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The Association of Hotel General Manager (IHGMA) of Bali said the occupancy rates of hotels in Bali rose sharply to 80-90 percent in the tourist island during the long Ied ul Fitr holidays.

"The rate shot up from normally 55-65 percent," chairman of IHGMA of Bali Nyoman Astama said here on Monday.

Most of the domestic guest were tourists from Java mainly Jakarta and Surabaya, Nyoman said .

Foreign guests were mainly tourists from Australia, China and India, he said.

Head of the public relations and marketing department of the Harris Kuta Hotel Janner Napitu said the hotels even were almost fully occupied with occupancy rates averaging 95 percent.

"The Ied ul Fitr holidays are high season," Janner said.

He said despite an increase in room rates up by as high as 30-40 percent, the occupancy rates have risen strongly.

He said his hotel offered no promotional tariff or special rate amid the strong demand for room.

He said most of the guests are domestic tourists from Jakarta, Surabaya and East and West Nusa Tenggara.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Hotel Griya Santrian Sanur Ida Bagus Sidharta Putra said the increase in occupancy rates was not significant among the more luxurious hotels in Pantai Sanur when the guests are mainly foreign touri8sts from Europe and Australia.

The occupancy rates of hotels in the city of Denpasar or City Hotels averaged only 75 percent during the long holidays, Ida Bagus Sidharta said. (WDY)
