President calls on people to jointly manage diversity

Jakarta (Antaranews Bali) - President Joko Widodo has called on people to jointly manage diversity and differences in the political year.

"Indonesia is a big country consisting of various cultures, customs, beliefs, tribes and languages," according to a press release from deputy for protocol, press and media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, received here on Tuesday.

President Joko Widodo gave a public lecture at Muhammadiyah University of Kupang on Monday.

However, the distinction should not be made as a seed of disunity, but as a common force to make Indonesia great.

"We must be able to manage our diversity. Our differences should become a power. If we can manage these differences, Indonesia will be a great country," the president said.

One of efforts is maintaining an understanding of nation politics in an attempt to realize the harmonious life.

Indonesian people should maintain unity in diversity.

With regard to the the Regional Elections (Pilkada), the president believed that people shared the same view of living in the harmonious life amid the nations diversity.

"Because of our political maturity we can keep our unity," the president remarked.

Furthermore, the president urged the community to vote for the best leaders at district, city, province level, or even in the next presidential election in accordance with their respective assessments and preferences.

However, after the election, people should not maintain hatred.  
The president invited all components of the Indonesian nation to unite without paying attention to their political choice.

"In fact, Indonesia will face bigger problem in the future. The problem can be faced with national unity.

The world has changed fast, and those changes have created new opportunities, new jobs, and new skills. (WDY)
