Indonesian Tourists Top Three In Using Internet

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian travelers are the world's top three for using internet when planning, ordering and traveling, as reported by the world's leading travel trading platform, Travelport, here on Tuesday.

"This survey covers global travelers with 11,000 respondents worldwide," Travelport's Managing Director of Asia Pacific Mark Meehan stated in a press release.

According to Meehan, the global tourist survey was conducted to those who last year had at least made a one-way round trip using air transportation mode.

The survey revealed that Indonesian tourists are very fond of and appreciate good digital experience provided by airlines. This shows the indulgence of Indonesian tourists in using digital gadgets when they travel.

Meehan gave an example, when planning a trip, Indonesian tourists love to research to make their travel plans. Ninety three percent use videos and photos from social media (the average Asia Pacific is 76 percent), 71 percent use voice search (the second after China at 72 percent) and 84 percent of the travelers prefer to consult professional travel agents.

India, China and Indonesia are the countries with the most dependent travelers on digital devices.

"This finding demonstrates the importance of digital gadgets for travelers, and we identify that global travel and hospitality industries need US$7.6 trillion to adapt technologies for responsive, relevant and timely services to customers," he said.

Indonesia's tourism sector itself, Meehan added, grew 25.68 percent this year, beyond the Asia Pacific region and other emerging markets. (WDY)
