"We still have five days left (before the end of the economic census program). As you have heard, there is no question on tax," the vice president stated at his official residence on Friday.
Based on the report of the BPS Head Suryamin, during the economic census being carried out on May 1-31, several respondents were still reluctant to furnish information as they feared answering questions related to tax.
Therefore, the vice president has called on the people to not hesitate to partake in the economic census. He underscored the importance of the national census for obtaining new economic data, evaluating the progress achieved, and formulating plans for the future.
"Now is the era of data. Without data, we cannot prepare a correct plan and conduct a right evaluation," Kalla emphasized.
The National Economic Census 2016 is being launched to gather information on the true picture of the nation's economy as the basis for drawing up national and regional development plans and policies.
Apart from agriculture, the census is being conducted for all business sectors, from home to national-scale industries.
Suryamin had affirmed that the BPS would conduct the Economic Census 2016 to retrieve new data related to the business sectors in Indonesia.
"This census is aimed at obtaining data on the total number of business sectors in Indonesia," Suryamin stated.
The BPS head noted that the survey on the business sector encompassed characteristics, types, and distribution of all business sectors in Indonesia, from cities to remote areas. The survey has been planned since 2014.
The information and data gathered will then be processed and analyzed from 2017 to 2018.
"We will be surveying businesses from the micro to the macro scale. This survey will also cover haberdashers and street vendors," Suryamin affirmed.
The business sectors that will be surveyed include manufacturing, housing, mining, excavation, domestic and overseas trading, as well as services.
The agricultural business sector will not be covered as the BPS had surveyed it in 2013. (WDY)
