Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika expressed hope that
the 85th General Assembly of the International Police (Interpol) to be
held in Bali this November will help promote the island`s tourist
resorts widely.
"This Interpol General Assembly will have a major impact on the tourism sector. There will be more than 2 thousand delegates, or 3 to 4 thousand if they take their families along. So they will also bring money," the governor said after inspecting the security preparations for the meeting, here, Wednesday.
The delegates will come from 190 countries, Pastika, former chief of the Bali Provincial Police, noted.
He remarked that Bali is lucky to host the Interpol General Assembly, which will be held for the first time in Indonesia. Therefore, he called on the Balinese to show their hospitality and help maintain security.
The general assembly will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung District, on November 7-10, 2016.
Issues to be discussed include terrorism, cyber crime, and transnational crimes such as human and drug trafficking.
The Interpol General Assembly is believed to be the second-largest international gathering, after the UN General Assembly in New York.(WDY)
