Surabaya, E Java (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Navy will participate in a joint military exercise of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) on Maritime Security and Counterterrorism, which will be held in Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.
Spokesperson of the Navy's Eastern Fleet Command Marine Lieutenant Colonel (KH) Maman Sulaeman stated here, Friday, in a press release that the Jalamangkara Anti-terror detachment of the Indonesian Navy and Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM)-367 warship will represent Indonesia in the joint exercise.
"Commander of SIM-367 Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Ashari Alamsyah has reported its initial preparedness at the Eastern Fleet Command Headquarter in Surabaya," Sulaeman remarked.
The ADMM-Plus is a platform for the ASEAN and its eight dialog partners to strengthen security and defense cooperation for peace, stability, and development in the region.
It has become an effective platform for practical cooperation among the participating countries' defense establishments.
The joint military exercise is scheduled to take place on May 2-12 this year, and the ASEAN countries along with the United States, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand will participate in it.
It is hoped that the ADMM-Plus would improve the interoperability and capability among the participating countries in information sharing on the maritime terrorism sector.
The Jalamangkara anti-terror detachment and SIM-367 warship will be deployed during a ceremony on April 25 in Jakarta. (WDY)
