Singaraja (Antara Bali) - PT Panji Muara Raya (PMR) is building a mini hydro
power generating plant in the village of Sambangan, in Buleleng
District, Bali.
The 2-megawatt-capacity power plant will use the water energy of the Muara river, the project chief officer Endang Supriadi said here on Sunday.
It will be the first hydro power plant in Bali and it is built to support the government`s program of developing clean and renewable energy, Endang said.
She said fossil energy reserves are dwindling fast, therefore, renewable energy should be developed as early as possible.
She said the small hydro electric power plant could supply power to 2,000 households in that area.
"The plan is to sell the output to the national power utility PLN," she said.(WDY)
