Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nurwahid said the 70th independence anniversary of Indonesia was an asset for the country to rise.

"Indonesia has a strong history asset. The Indonesian leaders today must strengthen the nation's existing potentials," the MPR deputy chairman told Antara here on Sunday.

He said that Indonesia also had potential human and natural resources it could use to rise. After all, these resources are supported by other countries.

Wahid said all of these potentials should all be utilized by the leaders today so that the nation's awakening could be realized in the framework of the celebrations of the country's 70th anniversary.

"We should find the way how to utilize all the potentials so that we can rise. This should be carried out by the executive in cooperation with other legislative and judiciary branches of government," he said.

He said that the spirit of awakening should always be built because we have strong and solid policies on independence context.

The 1945 Constitution is the basic principle carried out to declare and develop a sovereign Indonesia, he said.

"We can implement the principle in the past and today of course we can also implement it," he added.

The MPR deputy chairman said effective and courage of the nation's leaders to eliminate worries are badly needed to advance Indonesia and solidify the principles of the state philosophy Pancasila.

They should strengthen the values of the nation's morality and justice so that the law could be enforced.

"We should ensure that Indonesia is united and moderate. We must strengthen the deliberative values so that our democracy would not turn into anomaly, namely the emergence of a strong political dynasty," he said.

He said that Indonesia has passed a number of uprisings by certain groups to separate from the Unitary State of Indonesia. It is now entering the phase of developing prosperity for the people.

Therefore, Nuwarhid said he was convinced Indonesia would rise to become a sovereign state in real term with its various assets.

Indonesia has a strong asset for achieving its ultimate goal, he said. (WDY )
