Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to leave on Friday afternoon for East Nusa Tenggara for a two-day working visit to the province, according to local administration spokesman Frans Salem.

"The president's agenda includes overseeing the progress of Reknamo reservoir's development in the isolated village of Reknamo in Amabi Oefeto sub-district," Salem remarked here on Friday.

In the meantime, East Nusa Tenggara Public Works Department Chief Andre Koreh also confirmed that President Jokowi will oversee the development of Reknamo reservoir.

"Yes, the construction of Reknamo reservoir is 20 percent complete, and the president wanted to oversee it during his working visit to East Nusa Tenggara from Friday until Saturday," Andre affirmed.

He affirmed that 81 percent of the funds from the state budget in 2015 have been absorbed for the construction of Reknamo reservoir, with an area of 147 hectares.

On completion, the reservoir is expected to store 14.09 million cubic meters of water during the rainy season that will be used to meet the needs of the residents of Kupang district during the dry season.

"The water from this reservoir can also be used to irrigate rice fields and to generate electricity," Andre pointed out.

He stated that President Jokowi had visited Reknamo village on December 20, 2014, to inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the construction of the reservoir project worth Rp732 billion. (WDY)
