Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- The Indonesian Army hopes to improve its performance by ranking among the top 10 in the 6th World Military Olympiad in Mungyeong, South Korea, in October.

"We are already at the 22th position and expect to enter the top 10. God willing, with good preparation, we can make it," Indonesian Army Inspectorate General Lieutenant General Syafril Mahyudin said here on Monday.

In the World Military Olympiad in which 134 countries will participate, the Indonesian Army will focus on the five branches of shooting, athletics, skydiving, orienteering, and sailing.

"We will prioritize shooting and athletics but will not ignore the other categories," he affirmed.

To achieve the target, Mahyudin noted that the Indonesian Army has prepared intensively with regular exercise.

"We do exercise regularly. It was not for the event alone," he remarked.

Furthermore, Commander of the Indonesian Army General Moeldoko hopes that Indonesian soldiers achieve the best position in the competition to improve their performance in the international arena.

"This is part of Indonesia's efforts to improve its position in the international level as well as to strengthen diplomacy with the countries," he emphasized.

General Moleodko wants the Indonesian Army to show its capacity and performance by winning gold medals and maintaining diplomacy with other countries. (WDY)
