Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics is looking into the possibility of cooperation with its Russian counterpart in the field of e-government.
Secretary General of the Communication and Informatics Ministry Suprawoto made the remarks after receiving a Russian delegation at the Communication and Informatics Ministry here on Monday, according to the ministry's website.
The Russian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Telecommunication and Mass Communication Alexei K Voilin will be in Indonesia for a four-day visit. Both nations are exploring the possibility of cooperation in the fields of e-government and education including scholarships.
"Today some 200 Indonesians are studying in Russia. They hope more Indonesians will study in Russia," Suprawoto said.
The ministry itself had yet to open a post-graduate scholarship program to study in Russia. Such scholarships have so far been made available to Indonesians wishing to study in Britain, South Korea, Japan and Australia, he said. Around 200 Indonesians had completed post-graduate studies abroad particularly in the fields of information and communication technology, he said.
"We have not yet established cooperation with Russia. We will explore the possibility of such cooperation. So far the ministry has provided scholarships for those wishing to study in Britain, South Korea, Japan, and Australia. (WDY)
