Medan (Antara Bali) - A moderate earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit North Sumatra's West Nias district on Sunday at 00.27 Western Indonesian time, according to the local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) office.
The quake was centered 32 kilometers southwest of West Nias district at a depth of 36 kilometers, BMKG spokesman Hendra Suwarta said here on Sunday.
The quake had no potential to trigger a tsunami. (*/DWA)
