Pacitan (Antara Bali) - The Pacitan district government in East Java has installed and will continue to install tsunami detecting devices along the southern coast of the district, stated an official.

"One of these sophisticated electronic devices has already been installed in December 2013, and another one will follow suit in the near future, to detect occurrences of tsunami," stated Regional Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) spokesperson Ratna Budiono, here on Friday.

She explained that the devices will able to provide the local community with quick information on the rise of sea water along the south coast of Pacitan district.

According to her, these sophisticated tsunami detecting devices were granted by the central government through the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT). (*/DWA)
